Family Asparagaceae
Originating from Texas and Northern Mexico.
Defiant grassy swords, fringed with curling white threads, form a spiky, low-growing cluster, a rugged star for sun-baked gardens. In summer, slender 1.8m stems rise, crowned with vibrant yellow bells that hum with bees. Thrives in lean, free-draining soil, full sun, ideal for coastal pots or Mediterranean beds. Water sparingly; fleece in harsh northern winters. This tough, spreading perennial battles drought with flair.
Height and spread after 10–20 years: 1m x 1.5m.
