One of the giants of the hosta world with great mounds of immense, thick, puckered, chartreuse coloured leaves up to 60cm long, and pale lilac bell-shaped flowers held on stout stems in July. If you’ve been discouraged from growing hostas because of slugs, ‘Sum and Substance’ is worth trying, being one of the most slug resistant varieties.
Capable of growing enormous given a humus rich moist soil this hosta will also succeed in part sun in a permanently moist soil.
