Family Hydrangeacea
Originating from China, Japan
Robustious, abundant, yet elegant, this old variety is unbeatable for its vigour, dense crown of foliage and profuse flowering. The multitudes of puffball textured cone shaped flowers are held upright at the tips of the branches, with great poise. It begs to be the elder statesman of a woodland planting, with potential for pruning into a miniature tree form, making it an even more arresting deciduous specimen. Adaptable to oriental, traditional English and even jungle gardens, it hails from mountainous regions, and is a very hardy variety, easy to grow in all but thin alkaline soil.
Height and spread after 5 – 10 years 4m x 4m.
