Description

Family Hydrangeaceae
Originating from S.E. USA

A bold and distinctive deciduous shrub with handsomely lobed foliage, making a dense and lush backdrop for the long-lasting stunning late summer/autumn white loosely conical flowers, each with many eye-catching large florets. The large mid-green leaves have a deeply veined surface, giving them a coarse looking texture and are borne on wide spreading branches with brown peeling bark. In autumn they turn fiery shades of red flushed purple before falling.
Easy to grow in all but thin poor soils in sun or dappled part shade, great in woodland and jungle gardens.

Height and spread after 5 – 10 years 1.5m x 2.5m.
