Family Iridaceae
Originating from China
Abundant, broad, and lush evergreen foliage, elegantly structured white and clear blue flowers, and a graceful arching habit, formed by unique bamboo-like stems. That doesn’t sound like an iris, and only a close look at the flowers reveals its family traits, so distinctive is this wonderful species. In woodland and jungle-style gardens, it makes dense clumps of bold and glossy foliage that act as the perfect backdrop for its bright blooms, especially in dappled shade, although it is adaptable to full sun, herbaceous borders, and growing in pots. Hardy, and easy to grow in all except heavy, wet, alkaline soil.
Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 1.5m x 1.5m.
