Family Malvaceae
Originating from C and SE Europe
A fast growing semi-evergreen shrub with hairy, mid-green, lobed leaves and deep pink flowers with darker veins. These hibiscus-like blooms are produced in a profusion over a long period from June to October and although often considered a cottage garden plant, Lavatera ‘Burgundy Wine’ is perfectly in keeping with a more exotic style garden, planted alongside Cannas and Gingers. Cut back hard in spring to maintain a tidy, bushy habit.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun.
Eventual mature plant size :
Height 2.5m
Spread 2.5m
