Family Fabaceae
Originating from Canary and Cape Verde Islands
Like a lava flow, burning and pouring over all in its path, this splendid trailing and creeping plant combines silver grey succulent foliage with incendiary flowers. Slender, fleshy stems form a dense ground-covering mat, covered for many weeks in spring and summer with elegantly structured flowers. Each bloom has a dominant upright petal that looks like a claw or parrot’s beak and several yellow-striped, curving lower petals. Plant out for summer or grow in pots for patio display in summer, in free draining soil and return to a warm conservatory for winter.
Height and spread after 1 – 2 years 20cm x 1.5m
