Family Magnoliaceae
Originating from South East USA.
Large and abundant, glossy, thick leaves with a tropical look are borne on a vigorously growing medium-sized tree. The marvellous foliage forms the perfect backdrop to its pure white, huge, lemon-scented flowers, borne from mid to late summer. ‘Francois Treyve’ was discovered in France and selected for its hardiness, where it was found to be more resilient in cold conditions than other grandiflora varieties. It boasts vigorous, dense growth and a conical shape. Easy to grow in any soil in full sun, but performing best of all in rich soil and shelter from cold wind. Can be pruned to form any shape or grown as a wall shrub or espalier.
Height and spread after 10 – 20 years 10m x 8m.
