An exciting new introduction, ‘Soft Caress’ lives up to its name with fabulous soft, feathery foliage. Unlike other Mahonias, ‘Soft Caress’ has no spines on its long, slender, finger-like foliage so it can be planted next to a pathway where it can be stroked when passing.
Very tropical in appearance, almost like a young Phoenix palm.
It forms a neat, compact clump and produces very showy clusters of yellow flowers on upright spikes in late summer/early autumn followed by blue berries. In cold weather the foliage takes on red tones.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in part shade.
