Miscanthus sinensis ‘Malepartus’ is one of our favourite grasses, exceptional in all its parts, with vigorous growth and reliability of flowering. Its dense plumes of foliage arch gracefully making a cascading clump of broad leaves, each with a central white stripe, crowned by deep pinky red flowers, held well above the foliage, appearing earlier than many Maiden Grasses, in midsummer. The blooms fade to tan as the foliage turns stunning shades of red and yellow in autumn. They become tan, and persist on their tall stems, making an architectural impact into winter.
Our Miscanthus sinensis ‘Malepartus’ plants in 3L pots have had a full season to establish, making a robust young specimen that is ideal for planting out at any time of year. Easy to grow in all but the wettest soil in full sun.
