Description

Family Poaceae
Originating from S.E. Asia

A remarkable, towering, clump-forming grass with sturdy stems bearing 1m long, blue/green arching leaves with pale midribs. It makes a wonderful, rustling sound in the slightest breeze and is extremely tropical in appearance – like bamboo or even sugar cane. It isn’t invasive and doesn’t send out runners but steadily grows into a larger clump each year. This grass makes a phenomenal seasonal hedge or backdrop to a border, even in winter when the stems turn a buff brown but remain upright.
Cut back in March, before new growth appears.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun.

Height and spread after 1 – 2 years 1.5m x 50cm
Mature height and spread after 3 – 4 years 4m x 1.2m
