Description

Family Asparagaceae
Originating from Mexico

Wow factor rarely comes bigger than this. A hardy and fast-growing species that forms a large head of silver-blue foliage, with the leaves held rigidly outwards from a central rosette, resembling a firework exploding. There are few better centerpieces to desert, contemporary, and Mediterranean planting schemes than the ‘Blue Nolina’. Huge, potentially 6m tall flower spikes are occasionally produced bearing many hundreds of individual blooms. Easy to grow in full sun and poorly drained soil, in pots, or in the ground.

Height and spread after 5 – 6 years 1.5m x 1.5m
Semi-mature height and spread after 10 – 12 years 2.5m x 1.5m
Potential semi-mature height and spread after 20 years 3m x 2.5mAfter flowering the plant may become a multi-headed tree-like specimen.
Inflorescences can be up to 6m taller than the leaves.
