Pink buds emerge from the soil in Feb/March, or earlier in very mild weather. Red/maroon, pointed heart-shaped leaves with a central metallic silver chevron, on red stems make this a stunning foliage plant, although the small white flowers are insignificant. It’s vigorous but not invasive and is excellent in shade. One of our most eye-catching perennials in early summer adding much needed colour to a shady part of the tree fern garden.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun or shade.
