Family Asteraceae
Originating from China, Korea and Japan
Striking green leaves, up to 30cm across, splashed with bold cream markings follow on from the curious ground-hugging pink/white flowers, heralding the end of winter. This eye-catching perennial will grow quite happily in shade or in sun if the soil is very moist. It tends to spread but at a satisfying, rather than alarming rate, giving dazzling, lush ground cover. Plant with Rheums and red Acers for interplay and contrast.
Grow in moist soil in sun or shade. Leaves may scorch in sun in dry soils.
Height and spread after 1 – 2 years 40cm x 30cm
Semi-mature height and spread after 3 – 4 years 40cm x 1m
