Family Scrophulariaceae
Garden origin
Tubular cherry treats hang exotically from tall flower spikes. Dusky and rich, slender and elegant, the blooms are complimented by extraordinarily well colour coordinated sepals, stems and stamens in a handsome shade of inky blue/purple. The all-summer-long floral display is borne on a low spreading shrub with upright stems bearing large pointed oval dark green leaves, evergreen in mild winters. Worthy of planting in exotic and Mediterranean gardens, its medium height is useful for growing amongst taller shrubs, and is adaptable to all styles and growing in pots. Easy to grow in any soil in full sun.
Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 1.5m x 1.5m.
