Description

Family Pinaceae
Originating from N. USA & Canada

A stunning architectural, slender tree bearing dense needles, held on down-swept branches. The foliage appears to cascade down the plant in layers, like rippling waves, even running onto the ground. Small purple/red male flowers appear in spring followed by larger pendulous female cones. A great plant for small gardens as a solitary specimen, or forming a stunning structural framework when used in groups. Rarely seen due to the small numbers of growers grafting plants in the UK, this plant comes from artisan Dutch plantsmen, and is probably 12 – 15 years old already. Very hardy and easy to grow, spruces are tolerant of all soil conditions in full sun.
