Family Pittosporaceae
Originating from New Zealand
The outstandingly compact and architectural mounds of cheerfully bright green foliage produced by Beach Ball are hard to beat. A great alternative to box, which is susceptible to disease, it has a brighter more glossy leaf and is just as receptive to clipping, however it naturally forms a dense mound shape if not trimmed. If not trimmed, its soft organic mound shapes will also bear tiny black/dusky purple flowers, their honey-like scent can be enjoyed wafting some distance from the plant. Easy to grow in any soil type in full sun or part shade and in pots.
Height and spread after 2 – 3 years 40cm x 60cm
Semi mature height and spread after 5 – 6 years if not clipped or pruned 1.2m x 1.2m
