Originating from Central and South America

A sensational trunk-forming bromeliad from Chile, with rosettes of long, tapering, blue/green leaves with a silver underside. The leaf margins have recurving spines. Probably the thinnest leaved Puya, one of the most elegant and possibly the hardiest. In late spring it produces a 1.4m stalk bearing shimmering, waxy, deep green, almost black flowers with orange stamens.
Grow in full sun in soil with sharp drainage.
Hardy in milder areas.

Semi mature height and spread after?? 6 – 7 years 70cm x 80cm
Potential mature size after 15 – 20 years 70cm x 2m, as new rosettes appear at the base.
