Family Lamiaceae
Garden origin
Rich cerise tubular flowers emerge from papery, dusky looking purple sepals, borne on elegant spikes, held with graceful poise on tall, stout upright stems. They have a wonderfully complex structure with extended upper and lower lips. They have a zingy citrus scent and are loved by all pollinators. This incredibly flamboyant display lasts from early summer until the frosts, and its importance for late season colour cannot be overstated. The bushy, aromatic bright green foliage, and its reliable, strong-growing nature are further bonuses. Plant in any free draining soil in full sun or in pots.
Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 1.5m x 50cm.
