Originating from Taiwan
Can make a single-stemmed, small tree, or a multi-stemmed shrub. The glossy, dark, evergreen leaves have up to 11 narrow, pointed leaflets arranged like the spokes of a wheel, on long, dark red stalks. Young foliage is covered in silvery hairs. Green-brown flowers are produced in branched sprays in late summer, followed by purple-black berries in winter.
Grow in well-drained soil in sun or semi-shade. Young plants may need to be kept frost-free, but will survive outdoors in most areas once up to 1m or so, if sheltered from cold, drying winds.
