Family Asteraceae
Originating from N. America
A compact, bushy perennial with dark green leaves and purple/violet, daisy-like flowers with orange centres. Asters come into their own late in summer when most blooms are fading. Not in the exotic garden though. ‘Samoa’ adds yet more colour, shape and texture to an exotic planting scheme alongside the flaming colours and lance-shaped leaves of crocosmias and cannas and gingers, and will carry on flowering until the frosts. Great cut flower too.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun/part shade.
Mature height and spread after 1 – 2 years 60cm x 30cm
