Originating from Mediterranean to C Asia
A handsome and lush large deciduous shrub with abundant, shapely 5 lobed, aromatic leaves. Its dense leafy habit belies its tolerance of arid, sun baked conditions where it can form a wide spreading plant with an upswept branching shape. Its profuse late season display of lavender scented flowers is outstanding, appearing on tall spikes at the tips of the branches.
Easy to grow and hardy in all but northern and inland gardens, the ‘Chaste Tree’ is a great addition to Mediterranean and traditional English planting schemes.
Height and spread after 10 – 15 years 2.5m x 2.5m.
