Wisteria are named after Caspar Wistar, 18th century Professor of Anatomy at University of Pennsylvania. Deciduous climber with fragrant, lilac-blue flowers densely produced in summer. May be trained into a tree, on a wall, arch or pergola or as a free-standing half standard. Relatively compact and suitable for container growing.
Grow in a fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, in a sheltered position.
