Originating from Central and South America
A sensational trunk-forming bromeliad from Chile, with rosettes of long, tapering, blue/green leaves with a silver underside. The leaf margins have recurving spines. Probably the thinnest leaved Puya, one of the most elegant and possibly the hardiest. In late spring it produces a 1.4m stalk bearing shimmering, waxy, deep green, almost black flowers with orange stamens.
Grow in full sun in soil with sharp drainage.
Hardy in milder areas.
