A member of the ginger family producing clumps of bright green, lance-shaped leaves up to 25cm long and showy purple or white/purple flecked, orchid-like flowers from the upper stem axils in succession in early/mid summer.
Grow in humus rich, moist but well-drained soil in shade. Ideal for a cool woodland garden.
