Originating from S. Europe, China

A deciduous large shrub or small tree with rounded blue/green leaves turning a brilliant orange/red in autumn. In summer it produces plume-like panicles of pink flowers that contrast well with the foliage.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun/part shade. Well-established plants can be coppiced in spring resulting in an abundant foliage display but this will be at the expense of flowers.
