Originating from Vietnam and China. The ultimate tropical plant, in a compact yet lush and exotic form, manageable enough to move from your patio to a warm observatory for winter. Few plants have the wow factor like bananas, their huge 1.2m long leaves and pendulous, freely produced fleshy flowers bearing edible fruit evoke the jungle like no other species. Vigorous and easy to grow if well fed, it will produce pups at the base of its main trunk, which will quickly succeed the flowering stem after it dies. Grow in a large pot in fertile compost in full sun, and in shelter from strong winds to preserve the soft fleshy leaves.
