Family Onocleaceae
Originating from Asia to Russia
A truly elegant and lush fern with broad leaflets and a striking arching habit. Its fronds emerge stiffly upright in spring in a shuttlecock form. They have long stems and as they gradually recline they form a radiating palm-like crown of broad finely toothed rich green leaves. The leaflets are crowded onto the stems making an abundant rich dark green, deciduous display. A second flush of deep burgundy/brown spore-bearing fronds appear later in the season, shorter and stiffly upright.
Easy to grow in any soil in damp conditions in full sun or shade.
Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 1m x 1m.
