A rosette of fleshy, broad, grey green leaves with a spiny margin and sharp pointed tips.
Grow in sharply drained soil in full sun. Requires winter protection in the form of a rain cover but may survive outdoors in milder areas of the UK.

Height and spread after 5 – 6 years 1m x 1m
Mature height and spread after 8 – 10 years 2m x 3m, flower spike may reach 4 – 5m tall
