Family Companulaceae
Originating from Chile
The most dramatic and exotic member of the Lobelia family, this clump-forming perennial has large, downy leaves up to 45cm long carried on purple/red stems. In mid to late summer it produces racemes of tubular red/orange flowers – in good summers this floral display may last for several months.
Grow in moderately fertile, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. A rich soil may result in the production of lush foliage at the expense of flowers.
