Exceptional in every way; vibrantly coloured in leaf and flower, compact and glossy, abundant and continually showy. Its densely borne rosettes of evergreen foliage are smaller than most mahonias with crowded, beautifully regimented leaflets that emerge in gorgeous bronzy red colours, maturing to a superb dark lustrous green. It forms low growing mounds that are ideal for dappled shade, bringing a pollinator feast of orange and red coloured, scented, abundant sprays of flowers to the lower levels of planting schemes, from summer into autumn, followed by dusky blue/purple berries. Undemanding in any soil.
