Glossy, evergreen, deliciously scented, and vigorously growing, this lesser known species is adaptable to any garden style, and is hardier than its close relative, P. tobira, the Japanese Mock orange. It has a similarly profuse display of beautiful white sweetly scented flowers that mellow to golden yellow as they age, followed by showy orange coloured seeds. It makes an exceptional specimen for pruning into a small tree-like form, taking centre stage in planting compositions, or forming a dark backdrop for brightly coloured flowering species. Easy to grow in sun or shade and coastal exposure in any soil.
