Family Pittosporaceae
Originating from New Zealand.
One of Urban Jungle’s top recommended small shrubs, making the ultimate curvaceous, soft, evergreen rounded addition to planting schemes. It naturally forms a ball of cheerfully rich green small leaves that are speckled with purple in autumn and spring, some turning almost entirely purple in cold conditions over winter. They have undulating margins and are borne on black stems. A great alternative to box (Buxus sempervirens); it is disease resistant, and can be clipped to form any shape. It occasionally produces small black intensely scented flowers as a bonus. Easy to grow in all soil types in full sun or part shade.
Height and spread after 5 – 10 years 1m x 1m.
