Description

Family Asparagaceae
Originating from Mexico, Guatemala

Smooth and chunky leaves, lusciously green and fearsomely armed with large spines, yet exotic and refined, this agave has the look of a sub-tropical species. Hailing from dry grasslands and pine forests of southern Mexico, it is a relatively small agave that freely pups (forms offsets around its base). In full sun and extremes of temperature, the leaves take on purple hues and are fringed with a tan border, and large, well-spaced curving spines. Making an outstanding potted specimen for summer display on a patio to be returned to a frost-free conservatory or greenhouse for winter.

Height and spread after 10 – 2- years 1m x 1m.
