Family Malvaceae
Garden origin.
Few garden plants can match the floral display of this upright deciduous shrub, late in the season when most other plants have finished flowering. Late into leaf, the mid-green lobed leaves are shortly followed by the flower buds, forming for their mid/late summer display. They begin to open anytime from June to July and can continue blooming until October, making an impressive, profuse display of clear cerise pink flowers, conspicuously borne on the upright branches, each with deep maroon markings at their base. Very hardy and easy to grow in any soil in full sun.
Height and spread after 10 – 15 years 2.5m x 2m.
