Family Verbenaceae
Originating from West Indies
Delightfully loud and attention grabbing, this vigorous small shrub puts on an all summer show of richly coloured blooms, borne at the tips of the branches, against a backdrop of densely growing highly aromatic, minty smelling foliage, apparent if even lightly brushed. The tightly packed clusters of orange, red and yellow pollinator-attracting tubular flowers change colour as they mature, making a kaleidoscopic display. Perfect for placing on patios in pots for the summer to be returned to a frost free conservatory or greenhouse for winter, it is easy to grow in any compost in full sun.
Height and spread after 5 – 10 years 1.5m x 1.5m.
