Originating from China to the Mediterranean.
A choice shrub more evocative of the Mediterranean than any, with a floral display that is hard to match. The flowers can be dark red, salmon pink, yellow and white and have a mild almond scent. They appear over a long season lasting most of the summer and sometimes into autumn, shown off well against the dense mass of dark, matt evergreen foliage. All parts of this plant are highly toxic and protective equipment should be worn to cover hands and eyes when working with them. Easy to grow in any soil in full sun, preferably in a hot sun trap.
Height and spread after 10 years if not pruned 3m x 2m.
