Description

Family Solanaceae
Originating from China

A rumbustious, rambling, tropically flamboyant, loud and delightfully garish, tasty species. Snack on the ripe zesty fruits as you admire the unique pendulous pods that perfectly package them, in a bright orange papery lantern. This bold herbaceous perennial requires a firm hand to stop it spreading to form a seriously large plant, but is easy to control by digging around the base of the clump at the end of the season after cutting back. Its vigorous, colourful and delicious qualities make it worth this easy annual task. Perfect for Jungle and exotic gardens or in pots. Easy to grow in any soil in full sun or part shade.

Height after 2 – 5 years 1m x 1m.
