Family pittosporaceae
Originating from China and Japan
A compact, bushy, evergreen shrub forming hummocky sculptural mounds of dense, glossy, dark green, leathery, spoon shaped leaves. A very architectural plant – nature’s topiary. It may in warm summers produce sweetly scented white flowers at the tips of the branches. This is more likely if grown in a conservatory.
Must be grown in a sheltered spot or against a wall, and does very well in shade where the leaves become even more lustrous. In frost prone areas this shrub may require fleece protection in winter.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun part shade.
Height and spread after 3 – 4 years 40cm x 60cm
Semi mature height and spread after 7 – 8 yerars if not clipped or pruned 60cm x 1m
