Family Lamiaceae
Originating from Central Europe and Western Asia
Few plants can match the billowing masses of intense purple flower spikes forming soft mounds of colour that last all summer, and are loved by all pollinators. Swaying in the slightest breeze, the grey/green herbaceous, aromatic stems and foliage complete the stunning display, especially when planted in groups to form drifts in prairie style gardens or traditional English borders, or setting off taller spiky species in Mediterranean style gardens. It can also make a good potted plant for patios. A hardy and easy to grow plant for all soil conditions except those that are heavy and wet.
Height and spread in 2 – 5 years 50cm x 50cm.
