Family Sapindaceae
Garden origin
A stunning acer with an upright framework of bright green branches-even the trunk stays green until very mature. As this lovely, fast growing variety matures its crown broadens and becomes a soft rounded dome shape. The large, broad palmate leaves emerge in spring in a bright fresh green colour and develop yellow and orange hues as the season progresses, until autumn when they become fiery crimson red before falling. More tolerant of sun than some acers, it is a great addition to woodland, oriental or traditional English gardens.
Easy to grow in all but alkaline soil.
Height and spread after 5 – 10 years 6m x 4m.
