Originating from Japan
A slowly spreading, clump-forming grass from Japan with chartreuse green, upright ribbon-like blades with red tips.
As the season progresses the colour flows down the leaf, almost to the base, until by mid summer each plant is a vertical clump of intense blood red.
Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun. Cut back in spring.
In very frost prone areas mulch roots with straw.
Height and spread after 1- 2 years 40cm x 20cm
Mature height and spread after 3 – 4 years 40cm x 50cm
