Family Asphodelaceae
Originating from South Africa

One of Urban Jungle’s top rated perennials. Epically huge and towering, vigorous, hugely floriferous, loud and flamboyant, with a long flowering season from summer into autumn. The stately flower spikes can reach 2.5m tall! They bear multitudes of tubular densely packed individual blooms, dusky red in bud, turning fiery orange as they open, and fading to yellow, making a rocket-like apparition. They are borne over a spreading clump of semi evergreen broad grass-like leaves, to the delight of any passing pollinator. Easy to grow in any but heavy, wet alkaline soil in full sun.
