Family Poaceae
Originating from Southern Africa
A tufted, semi-evergreen grass with leaves up to 60cm long. In summer it produces an explosion of long, slender, cylindrical spikes of green flowers turning to rich purple-brown in autumn. It gives an extremely strong vertical presence to the garden.
Grow in moderately fertile, well-drained soil in sun. Will tolerate partial shade.
