Family Papilionaceae
Originating from E.USA
An appealing little tree with contorted branches and tightly packed clusters of curled leaves. These emerge apple green in spring and curl, revealing their grey underside. As the leaves mature they become a deep green/blue, but the tips of the branches continue growing throughout summer, producing fresh bright green leaves. Twisty Baby has an amazing pendulous habit with long branches, weighed down with the weight of the abundant foliage. The wacky branching structure gives interest in winter, even when denuded of foliage.
Grow in moist but well-drained, reasonably fertile soil in sun. Will tolerate poor, dry soil.
Eventual mature plant size :
Height 1.5m
Spread 1.5m
