Description

Family Poaceae
Originating from SW Europe, NW Africa

Lofty stems bear a golden haze of flowers, and then seed heads, sway in the wind making an elegant and diaphanous display that lasts for many months. This deciduous grass adds a unique character to gardens with its airy and upright form. Its flowering stems tower far above its slender blades of foliage making an architectural and striking addition to planting schemes. Looking stunning in prairie gardens, its non-invasive habit also makes it suitable for planting mixed borders. Easy to grow in all but heavy wet soil and full sun, it is tolerant of poor soil and drought once established.

Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 2.5m x 1m.
