Family Asphodelaceae
Originating from South Africa

One of our favourite ‘pokers’. Indispensable for late season colour, loud, big and bold, vigorous and lush….just wow!  We planted this in our exotic woodland garden in our Suffolk branch near Beccles, and we’ve propagated many plants from it in just a few years. It rapidly forms a large clump and produces a massive flowering display of towering fat red/orange/yellow flower spikes. Resembling a copse of smouldering torches in evening light, they are borne on stout stems from late July until the first frosts, emerging from mounds of broad evergreen leaves. Easy to grow in any but heavy, wet soil in full sun.

Height and spread in 2 – 5 years 1.5m x 1m.
