Stunning, upright and dense rosettes of dark and handsomely marked leaves make an arresting sight, placed on a patio for summer or grown in a conservatory or greenhouse. With a dark minty green sheen and deep maroon spots, the slender and elegantly curved leaves make an exuberant pineapple-like cluster at the centre of the rosette, with the older leaves cascading around them, each with a sharply, minutely, toothed margin. As the plant ages it produces young rosettes (pups) at its base, making a spreading clump, and 2m tall flower spikes of white lavender tinted tubular flowers.
