Planted in drifts of swaying stems, bearing richly coloured blooms, there are few plants that epitomise summer prairie gardens and herbaceous borders like the Purple Coneflower. Their pom pom topped flowers are an incendiary shade of orange, surrounded by a skirt of pendulous yellow petals., making a rich two tone, high impact contribution to planting schemes. Its herbaceous stems bear large pointed deep green leaves, making the perfect backdrop for the flowers. Any passing pollinator will make a bee line for their flowers. Easy to grow in light thin soil in full sun or light shade.
