(syn. Rodgersia tabularis)
Family Saxifragaceae
Originating from China and Korea
Evoking a steamy, dripping jungle understory, it is broad and lush, deep green and profuse. The foliage is crowned with an impressive display of tall frothy creamy flower spikes held above the large, nearly round leaves. Emerging from rhizomatous roots in spring, they create a vigorous looking spectacle as good as a floral display, they quickly form a canopy-like clump of foliage with slightly lobed margins. The flowers soon overtake them in height to add to the tropical looking display. Given damp or boggy conditions in any soil type in part shade, it is undemanding.
Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 2.5m x 2.5m.
